Sam Brown: Army Captain, Survivor, NV Senate GOP Nominee

Sam Brown, an Army Captain, survivor of an IED explosion, and a constitutional conservative secured the Nevada GOP nomination late last night on June 11th.

Brown, who served in Afghanistan in 2008, won the Nevada Senate Primary with 57.9% of the vote. His closest competitor, Jeff Gunter, received 15.6% of the vote.

Mr. Brown was born in Nevada, attending local schools before heading to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Brown graduated with a degree in Economics and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer to the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Hood.

Brown’s commitment to his country was evident through his distinguished military career.

As an officer, Brown was deployed to Afghanistan where he demonstrated exceptional bravery and leadership.

During a combat mission on his deployment, Sam received word that another nearby platoon had been ambushed.

Brown fearlessly led his team into battle, providing support for his fellow soldiers.

As Brown entered the engagement, a roadside bomb detonated under the fuel tank of his vehicle. Brown was drenched in diesel and became engulfed in flames.

Before the flames were able to take his life, the gunner of Sam’s vehicle was able to extinguish the fire on Brown’s body.

Brown suffered from 3rd degree burns on over 30% of his body. Mr. Brown was medically retired from the U.S. Military as a captain, and later became the recipient of a Purple Heart for his bravery, resilience, and determination.

According to Brown’s website, he recognized during his rehabilitation process that God had given him a new life. A life that was intended to be dedicated to the service of God and Country.

During Brown’s three years in recovery, he met his wife, Amy Larsen, who served as his Burn Unit Dietitian. Amy was a U.S. Army First Lieutenant.

After finishing his rehabilitation and starting a family with Amy, Brown was ready to rededicate his life to service.

Mr. Brown received his master’s in business at Southern Methodist University and later became a manager at an Amazon fulfillment center.

Brown then went on to launch a small business that provides emergency pharmaceutical support to veterans outside the VA.

Now, Sam has been called to serve his country in a new way, running to represent Nevada in the United States Senate.

Brown garnered key endorsements on his way to securing the Nevada GOP nomination including an endorsement from President Donald Trump and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo.

Looking ahead to the general election with Nevada being a key battleground state, Brown will face Democrat incumbent Jacky Rosen, who has served in the senate since 2019.

A 2024 Emerson College poll shows Rosen leading Brown by 2% with 22% of voter’s undecided.

Both campaigns are expected to intensify their efforts as the November election approaches, with significant national attention and resources likely to be invested in this closely watched race.
