On Monday morning, June 17 th , Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach issued a press release stating that his office was suing the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
Kobach argues in his lawsuit that Pfizer mislead the public, saying that their vaccine was ‘safe and effective’ despite having knowledge that their vaccine was linked to serious adverse events like myocarditis, pericarditis, failed pregnancies, and death.
Kobach alleges that Pfizer concealed this ‘critical safety information’ from the public.
The lawsuit continues on to allege that Pfizer marketed their vaccine as effective and that it would prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus despite evidence that Pfizer never studied the effect of its vaccine on the transmission of the virus.
The lawsuit also claims that Pfizer, “worked to censor speech on social media that questioned Pfizer’s claims about its COVID-19 vaccine.”
The Kansas AG’s office argues that Pfizer’s actions and statements related to its COVID-19 vaccine violate previous consent judgements and consumer protection acts with the State of Kansas.
The complaint says that these violations resulted in ‘record company revenue of approximately $75 billion.’
At a press conference in Topeka, Kobach said that, “Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth.”
Kobach’s press release states that, “According to the complaint, filed today in Thomas County District Court, Pfizer misled Kansans about the vaccines’ risks, including to pregnant women and for myocarditis. Additionally, Pfizer claimed its vaccine protected against COVID variants, despite data showing otherwise. The pharmaceutical giant also suggested its vaccine prevented COVID transmission, but later admitted it had never studied whether its vaccine stopped transmission.”
Last November, Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas filed a similar lawsuit, suing Pfizer for misrepresenting COVID-19 vaccine efficacy and conspiring to censor public discourse.
Paxton stated in his press release last year that, “We are pursuing justice for the people of Texas, many of whom were coerced by tyrannical vaccine mandates to take a defective product sold by lies.”
“The facts are clear. Pfizer did not tell the truth about their COVID-19 vaccines.” Said Attonery General Ken Paxton.
AG Kobach’s lawsuit seeks monetary damages, but does not specify an amount.
