RNC in Full-Swing after Trump Assassination Attempt; Senator JD Vance Tapped to be Vice President

Last Saturday, our nation was struck to its core by one of the most historical events to happen in the last few decades, an assassination attempt on the life of President Donald J. Trump.

With only a couple of days to reflect on the shooting, it was time for the nominating process to begin at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Appearing visibly emotional, Trump entered Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, being greeted and cheered on by thousands of supporters.

Before leaving for Wisconsin, Trump told the NY Post that, “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead.”

For the third presidential cycle in a row, President Trump was nominated to be the Republican Party’s nominee with 2,387 votes cast for Trump.

As the roll call was underway on day one, Trump announced Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his vice-presidential running mate.

The 39-year-old Senator graduated from Yale Law School and started his career at Mithril Capital, a venture capital firm run by Silicon Valley giant Peter Thiel.

In 2016, Vance published his best-selling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, about his life growing up in a working-class family in post-industrial Ohio.

In November of 2022, Vance was elected to the United States Senate, garnering an endorsement from Donald Trump in his hotly contested race.

Usha Vance, the wife of vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance is expected to introduce her husband on the main stage tonight in Milwaukee.

This marks Vance’s first address since Trump’s announcement of his running mate.

Day 1 of the Republican National Convention was the VP announcement and nominating process. Day two’s agenda focused on party unity and tonight, on day 3, the focus will shift to foreign policy.

Over the last few days of the convention, we have heard from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Donald Trump is expected to give his speech at the RNC on Thursday night.
