Be Not Afraid: To Stand Up For America

In a recent Interview with Elon Musk, Lex Fridman asked Musk about becoming more political since buying twitter. Take a Listen:

Since the acquisition of Twitter (X) and what has followed, it is no surprise that Musk’s name has become more relevant in the world of politics. Beyond being a strong advocate for free speech, he has taken many public stances on certain political issues, approved and denied the use of Starlink in geopolitical conflicts, while also being front and center with world leaders on the evolution of AI.

What was striking about this clip isn’t the question that was asked of Musk, it was his answer. “I guess if you consider fighting the woke mind virus, which I consider to be a civilizational threat, to be political, then yes”. Clarifying that this is less about one candidate vs another, Musk continues with saying, “I’m generally against things that are anti-meritocratic or where there is an attempt to suppress discussion, where even discussing a topic is not allowed”. Musk then emphasizes why he has technically become more political, by declaring “the woke mind virus is communism rebranded”.

In Spring of 2022, Elon Musk tweeted the above photo to show that around the time he purchased Twitter, his views have not changed, but that the left has become more extreme in recent years.

Musk purchased Twitter to promote free speech and stop government involved censorship. With an intent to unleash the digital market place of ideas, even Musk, did not initially realize how much Twitter had been working to suppress information and opinions. Thanks to the famous “Twitter Files”, it was proven that Twitter was pushing certain narratives, blocking the reach of certain conservative or even moderate thinkers, suppressing opposition and working with the federal government on maintaining a certain narrative. Behind the scenes, the actions Twitter took to censor speech, especially around relevant topics such as Covid-19 and the vaccines, were not only anti-meritocratic, but out right authoritarian. It was a direct attack on the first amendment of the constitution.

When writing about the US Constitution in the past I have discussed how our Constitution is not a self-correcting document. The survival of our Constitutional rights, therefore the survival of the American experiment, is dependent on us as active citizens, holding those in power accountable and assuring our rights are not suppressed by anyone, including modern technology. Even though the right to free speech is clearly protected in the first amendment, it took a private, and yes very wealthy, citizen to alter the course of Twitter’s unconstitutional abuse of power.

With continued focused on Tesla, Space X, and the colonization of Mars, Elon Musk has enough on his plate. Since purchasing the social media company, he has made it clear it was something he felt he had to do. While promising to better the app with new features and focusing on profitability, like everything else Musk does, he has a larger vision for Twitter beyond preserving free speech in the evolving technological world.

By purchasing Twitter, Elon Musk took attainable action, of which he was capable, to protect the first Amendment, unleash the tightening grip over digital communication and promote the marketplace of ideas, where thoughts can compete freely. In doing so, he did what he thought was right and necessary to save civilization. Purchasing Twitter was not a political play. I am sure it would be much easier for Musk in business and his personal life to avoid the polarizing world of politics. By taking necessary action and preventing the continued destruction of civilization as he put it, Musk has naturally entered the world of politics. Unfortunately, in today’s world, everything is politics and politics is everything.

Since the election of Donald Trump, politics has become more toxic. Not because of the man who won the Presidency but because the topic of conversations has naturally intensified. Like Musk, it is clear Donald Trump did not need to enter the world of politics. He would have been much better off as a private citizen. But he too felt the need to act.

Sun Tzu said “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle”. For many Americans, bogged down with the old Washington game of Republican vs Democrat, it was difficult to put a finger on who the enemy is. By spending time going back and forth between two parties, most American’s have been distracted by the real threats to America, until Donald Trump entered the arena.

Now it is clear that the battle is not necessarily between Republicans and Democrats, but rather those who aid in the destruction of America. Whether it be through corruption in career politicians, cluelessness in college students who have yet to experience the real world, or organizations who disregard the founding principles outlined in our constitution, the enemy is those who assist in America’s decline. On Joe Rogan, Musk discusses his decision to purchase Twitter, saying it was having a corrosive effect on civilization. Musk then identifies the enemy as the extinctionists.

Referring to San Francisco as now a zombie apocalypse, Musk explains how the city is home to a failed political philosophy. A failed philosophy, that was being piped to earth through Twitter as “an information technology weapon to propagate what essentially is a mind virus to the rest of earth”. The philosophy that has turned San Francisco into a zombie apocalypse, serves as a microcosm of today’s political left. Referring again to the image above, which Musk shared in 2022, the left has gone too far off the path, abandoning common sense, disregarding the constitution, and leading America towards anti-meritocratic communism. “The outcome of that mind virus is very clear if you walk around the streets of downtown San Francisco. It is the end of civilization”.

As we enter the holiday season, and we reflect on our responsibilities as citizens, we must look at those who have taken action to fight for America and ask ourselves; What more can I do to help fight against the woke mind virus? The rights outlined in the first amendment of the constitution are often the first to be suppressed by authoritarian governments in a communist takeover. And as the history books have taught us, that is only the beginning.
